Queening hives with locally produced queens has a number of potential benefits for an apiary! Beekeeper Paul Gardner will use hands-on techniques to teach students about the timing and techniques needed to successfully raise queens. Students should leave the session with one or two queen grafts from which to develop queens, and a solid foundation for implementing the method in their own apiary. This class is designed for individuals who have successfully kept bees for at least one year and are interested in rearing their own queens for their apiaries. No prior queen rearing experience is necessary. Note: This class will take place at the Barn (6665 Otis Rd SE)!
Class capacity is 10. Please bring your own lunch. M $65; NM $75
