Learn how to transform willow logs, limbs, and willow weavers into a classic, sturdy and beautiful chair alongside Artist-in-Residence Mary Kopecky. Participants will experience willow “bending” and construction techniques, as they make their own comfy bent back chair. The finished chair will be approximately 40″ high, 32″ wide and 30″ deep. Participants need to have patience, endurance, good arm and hand strength, and be able to bend, kneel squat, sit on the floor and gently wrestle willow into place. This class will meet Sunday, January 19 from 9am-5pm, Saturday, January 25 from 9am-5pm, with the option to finish (if needed) on Sunday, January 26th from 9am-12pm.
Please bring your own lunch, a cordless drill, a hammer, a sharp utility or woodworking knife, loppers, and sharp hand pruners. This class will be held at the ICNC Barn.
