Trumpeter Swan Soiree
A Family-Friendly Event
You are invited to a Trumpeter Swan Soiree, celebrating North America’s largest waterfowl species at Indian Creek Nature Center! Learn from experts in this area of conservation, and bring the kids along to participate in crafts and activities. Hot cocoa and coffee will be provided. After our program, guests will have the option to view a pair of Trumpeter Swans at Kirkwood Community College (you must provide your own transportation to this location).
Trumpeter swans were once common in Iowa, but were gone from the state by the late 1880’s. By the early 1930’s, only 69 Trumpeter Swans remained in the lower 48 states. As the largest North American waterfowl, these magnificent all-white birds can weigh up to 32 pounds with an 8-foot wingspan. Public support is vital in restoring Trumpeter Swans to Iowa.
This event is sponsored by Indian Creek Nature Center, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Kirkwood Community College, Iowa Wildlife Federation and the Trumpeter Swan Society.
Location: Amazing Space 5300 Otis Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403
Cost: $12 Member Adult; $15 NM Adult; $5 Child (Children aged 2 and under are free)
Please Note: Please dress for the weather, as some children's activities take place outdoors!
