Bur Oak Land Trust Chainsaw Academy for Women
Program Description: The Chainsaw Academy is an educational series to teach safety and competency skills for personal chainsaw use, and it's returning to Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids. The level one, one-day course is a mix of in-class instruction and field skill-building including the following topics: chainsaw safety, site hazard analysis, saw maintenance, creating a cutting plan, and basic saw operation including limbing and bucking. Lunch will be provided.
What to bring: Pen/paper, long-sleeved shirt, long pants appropriate for physical work, work gloves, sweatshirt or jacket, boots or shoes with ankle support, adequate water, sunscreen/bug spray (weather dependent). All other PPE and chainsaw equipment will be provided. If you have a personal pair of safety glasses, ear protection, chaps, or helmet, you may use those pending instructor approval. Please do not bring any personal chainsaws - you will not be able to use them during this course.

Please note: This course offering will be taught by the women of Bur Oak Land Trust and is for women only. Additional co-ed course offerings will become available at buroaklandtrust.org in fall 2022.
Cost: $65 (lunch is included)
